Scania K360 / Caetano Levante

Two coaches FJ57 KHO/KJU were acquired from South Gloucestershire Bus & Coach through John Hill Coach Sales in November 2017, arriving on 12th December in generic silver and originally intended for training and rail replacement work, indirectly replacing 310 and 311, although in the event very rarely used for training purposes. They soon received Green Line vinyls for temporary use on route 702 with fleet numbers 1401/2, although didn't enter service until 27th February and 3rd April 2018 respectively.

1401 lost its Green Line lettering in April 2018, whilst 1402 retained it until sometime around January 2019. A regular coach working on the 702 was introduced for a few weeks in April 2018 with the departure of loaned 10-12, but prove to be too small. Further use was made of them during the school summer holidays.

1401 transferred to Newbury & District in September 2018 to cover additional school contracts won whilst the acquisition was being completed. It retains full Reading Buses livery.

1402 became the emergency spare coach for the National Express 925 contract. It transferred to Newbury & District during June 2019 following the arrival of 1415-7, and again retained full Reading Buses livery.

1401/2 gained Newbury & District lettering on base Reading Buses livery in February 2020.

Three new Scania K360EB4/Caetano Levante II examples arrived on 10th June 2019 numbered 1415-7 for National Express work, and replace 1403-5 which had been on temporary loan from National Express. 1416 was in service by 14th June, 1415 by 17th and 1417 was doing type training on 13th and 14th June before entering service by 20th.

Volvo B9 / Caetano Levante

Three Volvo B9s FJ13 EBL/N/X numbered 1403-5 arrived on loan from National Express to set up operations on route 925 between Woking and Heathrow Airport from 17th September 2018 pending the delivery of three new coaches. Following delivery of 1415-7, 1403/4 were withdrawn by 17th June 2019 and 1405 by 20th. Tehy remained on site until late July, by which time they had been de-branded by National Express ahead of returning to National Express for storage.

A fourth BK15 AJX numbered 1406 came with the acquisition of Newbury & District on 13th September 2018, in plain white with rainbow stripes on the front. It gained with Newbury & District white and lime coaching livery on 30th May 2019.

Volvo B12B / Plaxton Panther

FD54 DHN was new in December 2004 to Dunn-Line for use on National Express Coach duties, as their 26. Dunn-Line was then sold to Veolia Transport, and upon leaving Veolia it joined Dunn ownership again under the Rotala PLC's Hallmark operation, where it has remained until 2018. It jumped between depots with the Rotala, including Long Acre, Preston, Blackpool and Redditch, and has carried the registration Y60 HMC. It was sold to Scania, Worksop, and acquired by Reading through Drew Wilson in April 2019. It was allocated fleet number 1407 and up-seated from C49Ft to C70F prior to acquisition for use at Reading on an Oxfordshire County Council school contract from Whitchurch to Langtree School.

For commonality with the fleet at the time it gained Newbury & District white and lime coaching livery on 30th May 2019 and was used by Reading Buses on the morning of 3rd June 2019 before undergoing an extensive mechanical overhaul, and not entering full time use until mid-October 2019.

The contract was terminated in July 2020, and the vehicle transferred to N&D on 27th.

Volvo B12M / Plaxton Paragon

Two second hand coaches were purchased from Drew Wilson in 2019 for Newbury & District and school contract work.

YN08 NNB was new to Whitland & Logan, Dunloy, Northern Ireland before being sold to Taf Valley Coaches and then Yelloway Coaches where it carried registration A17YEL for a time. It was C53Ft when new, but was up-seated to C77F with Reading Buses moquette prior to delivery on 14th May 2019 and allocated fleet number 1408. It gained Newbury & District white and lime coaching livery on 30th May 2019 and entered service at Newbury & District on 3rd June 2019.

YN08 NNE was new to Whitland & Logan, Dunloy, Northern Ireland before being sold to Eddie Brown Coaches by 2011, and then Eastons by 2012 and Yelloway Coaches by 2015 where it carried registration A19 YEL for a time. It was C53Ft when new, but was up-seated to C77F with Reading Buses moquette prior to delivery and allocated fleet number 1409. It arrived on 14th June in Newbury & District white coaching livery, but went away for engine work before entering service with Newbury & District on 19th July 2019.

Pending the acquisition of 1408/9, two coaches were operated on loan from Weavaway Travel to cover additional school contracts won whilst the acquisition was being completed. These were initially Mercedes-Benz / Caetano Levante X70/90 OXF from 13th September 2018 which were allocated fleet numbers 1411/12. They were returned to Weavaway in March 2019 and replaced by Bova Futuras WA64 CWY/Z which were allocated fleet numbers 1413/14. VanHool Alizee V11 OOL also made several appearances to cover maintenance requirements, but was not allocated a fleet number.
