New Greenwave Route

27-02-14

24th February saw some route and timetable changes to improve the Greenwave services. The recently introduced extension to the Station North Interchange has been withdrawn in favour of a circuit around the Town Centre loop serving Station Road and the Market Place where significantly more passengers are likely to board the services. Buses then proceed over Duke Street and turn right onto the IDR in a newly unrestricted manoeuvre. To create more flexibility in the already busy Market Place, stops MB and MC have been combined so that buses on routes 5, 6, 11, 72, 500, Greenwave and TVP always stop as far down the hill as possible to avoid the need for a lot of pulling in and out.

Wheel Forward Streetlites in Service

27-02-14

Reading Buses new fleet of five door forward Wright Streetlites entered service one by one at the start of the month, and are now settling into their new roles. Unlike the wheel forward examples they have received the colours for the corridors that they are allocated to as well as individual route branding. They also feature free WiFi, internal next stop audio announcements and external destination announcements when the doors open.
