Tridents to Upgrade Route 190

24-09-09

First Berkshire are currently receiving a batch of refurbished Tridents from London to increase capacity on route 190 which runs between Reading and Bracknell. The conversion to double deck is to take place gradually, but in preparation the service was diverted away from Plough Lane and Bean Oak Road from 29th August to avoid low hanging trees, with route 152 adjusted to cover these roads instead.

A batch of five slightly older, but similar, Tridents are already in use on route 194 retaining London red livery pending repaint and centre door conversion. The first reports of this second batch entering service are still awaited.

The FirstGroup website quotes:

The reliability of buses between Bracknell and Reading has improved dramatically since 2006. There are some journeys on route 190 which have become very popular, particularly at the Reading end, so in order to provide a comfortable journey for everybody we are replacing the single-deck vehicles with double-deckers. Customers will receive an improved journey experience, particularly those travelling upstairs where legroom is more generous and views are unrivalled!

We hope to introduce further improvements to route 190 in the future. You can follow the 190 at www.twitter.com/route190
