Free Purley Shuttle

Yesterday saw the start of major bridge replacement works in Purley where Network Rail are to demolish and re-build the two bridges that connect it with the outside world - New Hill bridge on route 16 and the nearby Westbury Lane bridge. The main demolition work will take place over Christmas when reduced rail services will be running, but weight restrictions will prevent access for buses from now until the end of March.
Reading Buses have won a contract to provide a free minibus service between Knowsley Road (Goodliffe Gardens) and Purley to connect with truncated route 16. Special branding has been applied to the bus stop flags to alert passengers to the special arrangements which are designed to provide a seamless transfer between buses whenever possible.
