A brief history of Newbury & District:

Newbury & District were established in 1932 and taken over by the Red & White group in early 1944. In 1950 Red & White sold out to the British Transport Commission who reorganised their operations with other recently nationalised companies, and merged the Newbury operations with Thames Valley Traction. Thames Valley were merged with Aldershot & District to become Alder Valley from 1 January 1972. Upon privatisation of the National Bus Company in the 1980s, Alder Valley was purchased by the Berks & Bucks Bus Company, trading as The Bee Line. In 1991/2 their Reading and Newbury operations were sold to Reading Transport.
