| Here are details about bus fares charged by Reading Buses.
All town routes (numbered under 100), and rural routes 111, 112 and 113: To help speed up boarding times and to increase safety, passengers must tender the exact fare for their journey (in any number of coins or notes) and place it in a secured hopper to the left of the drivers cab. Bank notes must be shown unfolded to the driver, folded once and placed in the hopper. The driver is unable to give change. Single Bus Fares from 9th October 2006 A single flat fare is applicable on all services within the Greater Reading Urban Area. The boundaries of the Greater Reading Urban Area are: Peppard Road (Rose Hil / Tower Close), Henley Road (County boundary), Sonning Halt, Sonning Fire Station, Loddon Bridge (The George), Shinfield Road (Black Boy), Hartley Court Turn, Burghfield Road (Railway Bridge), Calcot (Savacentre), Purley Post Office. Outside the Greater Reading Urban Area single and return fares are charged according to the distance travelled, and Network Busabouts are also available. Travel Cards from 9th October 2006 Reading Buses also offer a large number of travel cards depending on where you travel from, which offer very good value for money. Details of the main Travel Cards available are summarised below, most of these being available from the driver on Reading Buses and Newbury Buses and from the Travel Shop. The Reading Weekly is also available from First Berkshire drivers.
Other travel cards include the West Reading Weekly (£8.50), East Reading Weekly (£8.50), South Reading Weekly (£7), North Reading Weekly (£7), Thames Valley University Weekly (£10), standard Monthly and Quarterly cards, Job Seekers cards, Overseas Student cards, plus a number of different cards for areas outside the Greater Reading Urban Area. NightTrack from 21st November 2005 Ordinary Travel Cards are not valid on services after 11.30pm, however special discounts are available for use on any NightTrack service. Books of 5 or 10 discounted tickets can be purchased in advance:
NightTrack single tickets can also be purchased from Reading's on street ticket machines for £2.00. The Nightsavers are available from the Travel Shop, Civic Centre, Town Hall Information Centre, Reading University Students Union, The Oracle Information desk and all outlets displaying the NightTrack logo.
